Accounting Generalist
Accounting Dept.
Full-time
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Purpose: Perform general accounting duties including customer invoicing and payment application, credit and collections, accounts payable invoice and payment processing, and customer and vendor account management.
- Comprehensive understanding of customer invoicing, credit and collections, cash application, and accounts payable processing.
- Great interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and peers.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Problem recognition and solution skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
- Distribute Accounts Receivable statements to customers in a timely fashion while ensuring accuracy.
- Make calls regarding overdue accounts and send written communications as appropriate.
- Research and solve payment discrepancies.
- Make adjustments to accounts as needed.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding credit practices and account balances.
- Utilize software capabilities to support and enhance collection practices.
- Educate and inform Sales, CSR’s, Accounting and other personnel on receivable or credit issues.
- Prepare deposits.
- Apply customer payments.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of Accounts Receivable file.
- Review freight invoices for accuracy and post cost to jobs.
- Generate customer invoices in compliance with established procedures and customer instructions.
- Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds or greater.
- Extensive sitting required.
- Extensive use of computer and mouse.
- Extensive use of the telephone required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years’ experience in corporate accounting department or manufacturing customer service.
Work Environment:
This is an onsite working position in an office environment. The noise level is usually moderate.
