MA Medical Assistant needed for Family Practice
Well Life is looking to hire a highly motivated, positive person who is passionate about health and functional/integrative medicine with a desire to learn and adapt. Seeking a Medical Assistant to serve as a full-time MA assisting our providers.
Position Summary
Provides task-oriented direct patient care with supervision, which includes administering IM injections, taking and charting patient vitals. Works with other staff members and physicians/providers to provide excellent patient care. Documents encounters in medical chart. Must be able to multi-task.
The ideal candidate would have a vested interest in their own health, and how to maintain optimal health. Personal qualities would include: attention to detail, empathetic, excellent communicator, "people" person, able to handle a high level of responsibility, and ability to make strategic decision-making. Outstanding patient care and ability to multi-task are essential. Candidate must have strong organizational and computer skills.
Candidates who are not interested in alternative medicine and nutrition need not apply.
Requirements
Due to the nature of the position and business we are a Tobacco-free Workplace.
Preferred to have at least 3 years' experience in the medical field, ideally within primary care. Candidate with a Medical Assistant degree, EMT, Phlebotomy or similar degree would be considered if extensive experience.
Insurance Verification experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 1 year of equivalent work experience in a health related environment or customer service, retail or similar industry
OR
- Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of equivalent work experience in a health related environment or customer service, retail or similar industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties would include:
- Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight and height; documents in EMR, insurance forms and superbills.
- Presents drug refills to providers for authorization; clarifies prescription for pharmacies.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies.
- Prepares and administers medications and injectable components as directed by provider.
- Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, Physicians' instructions and supplement recommendations to patients.
- Assists physician in examination and treatment of patients to include PRP/Prolo, nerve injections, ultrasound guidance, stem cells, labs, imaging, bracing, taping, strapping, fitting, removing sutures, changing dressing on wounds and other related tasks.
- Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs the specimens and prepares them for testing.
- Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
- Educated and performs lab processes and procedure processes of Regenerative therapies.
- Operates electrocardiogram (EKG) or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
- Contacts medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests, referral or admission.
- Performs laundry, cleaning, sterilization, organization, and other housekeeping duties.
- Mindful of supply/inventory and communicates/orders supplies timely when necessary .
- Completes work ability reports, disability forms and attending physician statements; writes letters of medical necessity.
- Prepare daily patient charts timely and accurately.
- Assists explanation to patients via provider treatment plans, assists gathering supplements and escorts patient to Front Desk.
- Triage calls effectively and with empathy.
- Continues education and personal growth to maintain all registrations, licensures, and certifications
- Presents a consistent willingness to learn new skills and positive demeanor with both patients and co-workers.
- Exceptional attendance, timeliness and professionalism.
- Positivity with both patients and co-workers, resilience in times of change.
- Attends team meetings and health fairs to promote the company as needed.
