Well Spring Automation is based in Midland, TX with operations primarily across West Texas and NM. Work with key oil & gas companies and become a valuable part of the team assisting with onsite completion or production activities. Well Spring Automation provides automation and automation services to the oil and gas industry. We are a leader in developing cutting-edge sensor and automation control systems that help to reduce costs and increase safety in our clients' operations. Our operations are rapidly expanding to include automation, water management, water transfer, drill out, and flow back services.
The Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (I&E Tech) is based out of Midland Texas and will work in the Automation department. This is a Monday through Friday position with on-call responsibilities on nights and weekends.
This is a great opportunity if you are an experienced I&E Technician, Controls Technician, Instrumentation Technician (E&I Tech), Engineer, Electric Technician, Compression Technician, Instruments and Electric Tech, Automation Technician or similar. Experience working with equipment for Engines and Compressors.
- The entry-level class in the I&E Technician series. Positions in this class typically have 1-3 years of directly related work experience. The I&E Technician I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.
- The second level class in the I&E Technician series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties, with only occasional instruction or assistance needed as new, unusual or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in I&E are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level once the incumbent meets the qualification standards of the II level, demonstrates an ability to perform the full scope of the work, and meets all other performance standards. A level 2 I&E candidate will have 3-6 years of directly related work experience.
Pay will be based on experience.
I&E Primary Purpose :
Implements and maintains electrical power circuits and equipment. Maintains control and automation systems, electronic and pneumatic equipment used in pipeline applications, compressor stations, pump stations, plant operations and measurement facilities.

None.Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Duties include installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic equipment. Along with completing all appropriate documentation associated with the duties.Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.Performs Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems.Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.Maintain electrical switch gear and power distributionResponsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.Oversee the construction and / or maintenance activities performed by third parties.Stay up to date on Operations Qualifications and required training.Other duties as assignedEducational Requirements :
High School Diploma and a two-year Associate Degree in job-related technical training or equivalent work experience preferred.Experience / Specific Knowledge :
Level I-II I&E Technician will have 2-6 years of experience as an I&E Technician in the Oil or Fuel Services industries.3 years of experience working in the oilfield.Working knowledge of National Electric CodesProficient with electronic test instrumentsKnowledge of process controls and gas processing fundamentalsKnowledge and experience preparing drawings of electrical circuitsKnowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagramsKnowledge and experience in Automation is preferred.Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel & Word.Certifications, Licenses, Registrations :
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.Valid Driver's license.Competencies, Skills, and Abilities :

Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditionsMust be able to frequently climb to and work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, stairwells, walkways, etcMust be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasionally).May work in low-lit areasBe available for shift work when applicable.Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position)
2-6 years’ experience in operating and maintaining Gas Engines and compressors.Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.Knowledge and experience with electronic equipment, high-pressure gas, processing equipment, pumps and reciprocating or gas turbine engines and compressors. Particular knowledge and experience working with equipment manufactured by Caterpillar, Ariel is a plus.Knowledge of Wonderware software.Knowledge of Allen Bradley hardware and software.The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
