The Village at Brookwood, located in Burlington, North Carolina, is a member of The Well•Spring Group of Greensboro, North Carolina. The Well•Spring Group is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide aging-adult services which create an experience that exceeds the needs of an evolving and diverse population of older adults. The Village at Brookwood offers a full continuum of care services for older adults, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care.
In this role you will:
- Provide visitation to residents throughout the continuum, especially those in Health Care. Visits include pastoral care calls and in-person visits throughout the campus. Visits also may be provided in the hospital as needed.
- Respect the faith tradition of each individual.
- Provide religious or spiritual guidance to residents, family members, and team members.
- Offer reflective, non-judgmental, active listening.
- Provide support to residents and families at times of crisis and change, including, at end-of-life.
- Conduct religious services, including ecumenical worship services, on a regular basis.
- Conduct and lead memorial services as requested.
- Conduct or help facilitate spiritual rituals, sacraments, holy day and holiday programs that are specific to certain faiths, as the resident population requests.
- Organize and/or lead theological study groups, prayer groups, and other groups of resident interest that pertain to religion and spirituality.
- Attend and provide support for the resident Spiritual Life Committee. Collaborate with the committee on vision, concerns, and assist with committee activities.
- Oversee volunteers or groups from outside the Well-Spring community who provide spiritual or religious services.
- Provide individualized counseling and support as requested.
- Collaborate with other teams related to Health Care, Community and Resident Relations, and others to support Well-Spring residents in all aspects of their spiritual well-being.
- Participate in resident care planning, as needed or requested by residents, family members, or team members.
- Upon admission to Health Care, conduct a resident spiritual assessment.
- Upon annual review and/or significant change of Health Care resident, document visitation, spiritual needs, and counseling provided.
- Communicate and collaborate with the team regarding identified needs of individuals or groups.
- Facilitate or assist with support groups, as needed.
- Reach out and interact with the wider Greensboro community to create and establish relationships with leaders of all faiths over time.
- Facilitate specially requested faith representatives as needed to meet resident needs.
- Identify needs and champion opportunities for additional services to the Well-Spring community.
- Assist our leadership team with team member needs as requested.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college, university or theological school.
- Preferred completion of a graduate-level theological degree from an accredited college, university, or theological school.
- Documentation of Clinical Pastoral Education.
- Capacity for work in long-term care, where attention to regulations, collaborative work, and confidentiality are paramount.
- Evidence of genuine care around the special needs and interests of older adults, particularly in conditions of declining health.
- Flexibility in weekly schedule to meet unexpected needs as they arise, and ability to hold studies, meetings, and other special events on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A commitment and desire to provide ministry and spiritual support to residents, family members, and Well-Spring team members of all faiths and those with no faith background.
