About the Position
With the direction and support of the Director of Global Benefits and Payroll, the Sr. Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects related to the Time and Attendance and payroll functions for approximately 500 North America (U.S. and Canada), Manufacturing, and corporate employees. This will require an in-depth understanding of the T & A systems and processes (UKG UltiPro), with emphasis on data integrity and analysis. This role also requires the cultivation of a strong, customer-focused environment, with emphasis on driving accurate and timely payroll results, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Utilize UKG Workforce Management, Time and Attendance, and Payroll Systems to accurately and timely prepare and execute bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for 500 employees within assigned regions or functions.
- Work closely with stakeholders across Finance functions connecting with the internal and external contacts and guidelines to ensure open communications that support an effective partnership across our HR and business community as well as with employees and leaders.
- Implement quality control processes to ensure accuracy of all payroll-related records, data, and transactions including ensuring appropriate authorization and documentation for payroll changes that affect pay, deductions, withholdings, etc.
- Follow internal policies and procedures for reporting payroll information and maintaining related records; maintains and updates a payroll policy manual which includes all payroll policies and procedures and related information.
- Keep updated on system changes and industry trends; serve as SME for internal clients and provide training on use of the UKG Workforce Management, T & A and payroll applications and internal timekeeping and payroll policies and procedures.
- Manage the submission and data entry associated with supplemental payroll information outside of UKG System (bonuses, adjustments, etc.).
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
- Review, analyze, and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy; make appropriate adjustments or corrections through journal entries or other established procedures as needed.
- Develop and provide periodic reports and payroll data to internal clients or as needed for annual financial reviews and audits.
- Implement and manage processes to effectively track payroll activities such as review of leave of absence payments, retroactive payments, commissions, bonuses, new hires, and terminations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or similar discipline plus 6 years’ experience in Payroll & Benefits or HR Operations, or Associates Degree in accounting, business administration, or similar discipline plus 8 years’ experience in Payroll & Benefits or HR Operations.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including the ability to generate spreadsheets, tables, and formulas in Excel
- Exceptional organizational ability with great attention to detail
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Oil & Gas industry
- Experience with UKGPro, Kronos, or other Workforce Management System
- Experience with Power BI
