POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Financial Counselor supports patients and families by assisting with financial guidance specifically related to Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and short-term disability needs. This role includes helping patients understand their coverage options, assisting with necessary paperwork, and guiding them through claims processes. The Junior Financial Counselor also provides general financial counseling support, working closely with the Senior Financial Counselor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patients and families with understanding FMLA and short-term disability benefits, focusing on guidance and support throughout the process.
- Help patients complete FMLA and disability-related paperwork, providing guidance on claim submission and follow-up as needed.
- Support the Senior Financial Counselor in delivering patient-centered financial counseling services and responding to general patient inquiries.
- Maintain organized records of patient interactions related to FMLA and disability benefits.
- Provide empathetic communication to patients and families, ensuring clarity and support throughout the financial process.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s degree in healthcare, finance, or a · related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in customer service, financial assistance, or healthcare support role.
- Familiarity with FMLA and short-term disability processes, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with healthcare software systems a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $25.48 - $26.45 per hour
