What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant (Full-time) - Day Shift position at Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research?
POSITION SUMMARY
Addiction Treatment Medical Assistants will assist to deliver care throughout Wellbridge and are responsible for providing support for the day-to-day observation, supervision and deliver care of a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal program, and rehabilitation program. Promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with providers, nurses, therapists, counselors, and other healthcare team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory Testing and Specimen Collection:
- Perform venipuncture to draw blood from patients.
- Collect urine samples.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of all laboratory specimens.
- Prepare and send all laboratory specimens to the designated laboratories.
- Monitor and follow up with laboratories to ensure timely processing of lab results.
- Address and resolve any issues related to missing or delayed specimens.
Coordination of Care:
- Facilitate communication and coordination between medical providers within the facility and patients' outside providers.
- Manage and complete prior authorization requests with insurance companies for medications and treatments.
- Coordinate with specialty pharmacies to arrange for injectable medications and other necessary prescriptions.
- Coordinate care for onsite radiologic testing.
Patient Interaction and Support:
- Assist with patient intake processes, including recording medical histories as needed.
- Provide patients with instructions for lab tests, medication administration, and other medical procedures.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the facility’s electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals.
Injectable Medications Management:
- Track and maintain accurate records of all injectable medications.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure proper handling, storage, and administration of injectable medications.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely reordering of injectable medications.
General Assistance:
- Support the medical team with various tasks within the scope of practice for a medical assistant.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the medical director.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
- Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection techniques required.
- Experience with and knowledge of prior authorization processes.
- Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in addiction treatment or a similar field preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and insurance processes.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.50 - $25.00 per hour
