At Wellesley Public Schools, Spanish classes are essential to our elementary core curriculum. Students receive Spanish instruction three times a week for thirty minutes, ensuring consistent exposure and practice. Our program is committed to proficiency-based learning, aligning with the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. This means we prioritize real-world language skills that empower students to communicate effectively in Spanish.

Job Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications to excel as an elementary Spanish teacher:

  • Language Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate at least an Advanced Oral Proficiency Level and exhibit native or near-native fluency in Spanish. This ensures effective communication and engagement with students in the language-learning process.
  • Teaching Experience: Qualified candidates will have substantial experience in providing content-enriched language instruction tailored explicitly for elementary school students (grades K-5). This experience equips teachers with the pedagogical skills to engage young learners effectively.
  • Licensure: The ideal candidates will hold a Massachusetts elementary world language education license, demonstrating a commitment to professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Pedagogical Skills: Competitive candidates will showcase a student-centered teaching approach, emphasizing active participation and meaningful learning experiences. Experience in curriculum development, standards-based assessment, and collaboration with fellow educators and administrators is highly valued.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities are essential for fostering positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Effective communication, empathy, and cultural competence create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Organizational and Management Skills: The role requires effective organizational and management skills to efficiently handle classroom dynamics, lesson planning, and administrative tasks. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage resources effectively and adapt to diverse teaching environments.
