Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical environments, including Level I and Level II Trauma Centers, PICU, Emergency medicine, and Medical-surgical units. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients while assisting with their daily activities and healthcare needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide support for patients in a clinic or hospital setting, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Help with mobility by assisting patients in moving from one location to another within the facility.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas, including beds and equipment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in a teaching hospital environment to deliver high-quality care.
- Participate in patient education initiatives as directed by nursing staff to promote health awareness.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in accordance with facility protocols.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with various medical environments such as OR, inpatient units, clinics, and trauma centers is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Certification or training in personal care assistance or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
