Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Supervisor to oversee our payroll department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with applicable laws, and managing payroll staff. This role requires strong technical accounting skills and proficiency in financial software, including ADP and QuickBooks.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the payroll team to ensure accurate processing of payroll for all employees.
- Review and approve payroll entries, ensuring compliance with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Manage the reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to payroll, including journal entries.
- Oversee the integration of timekeeping systems such as Kronos into the payroll process.
- Ensure timely reporting of payroll taxes and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide training and support to staff on payroll processes and software usage.
- Collaborate with HR to maintain employee records and resolve any discrepancies related to pay or benefits.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to identify areas for improvement.
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a payroll department or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting practices and technical accounting principles.
- Proficiency in financial software such as ADP, QuickBooks, or similar systems is essential.
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries is required.
- Familiarity with timekeeping systems like Kronos is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
