Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or direct and applicable work experience
- 10 years in security management, with 5 years in a leadership role overseeing physical and executive security and life safety
- programs.
- Demonstrated experience in security protocols and practices relative to executive protection, physical security, crisis management, and life safety programs.
- Experience in high-level executive protection or military / law enforcement backgrounds is highly valued.
- Strong expertise in threat analysis and risk mitigation with applied knowledge of advanced security technologies and systems.
- Ability to balance security with approachability, embodying a healthy level of skepticism while being an enabler of corporate culture and brand representation.
- Ability to operate security equipment and defensive tactics, as needed.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with law enforcement, government agencies, and private security firms.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely deliver information / concepts to stakeholders through presentations; experience facilitating groups to accomplish a specific goal.
- Exceptional analytical / problem solving skills, identifying causes and key factors, relate and compare data from multiple sources and identify solutions.

Additional Information
a. Provide the strategic direction and leadership for company safety and physical security team.
b. Develop and execute a strategic safety and security management plan ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Evaluate / justify needs for company purchases while operating within budget and determining staffing and capital equipment investments, and system enhancements. Cascade and communicate strategy and initiatives to team members, driving customer / stakeholder service, and supporting achievement of overall company results.
c. Assess, recommend, implement, maintain, and serve as the subject matter expert for electronic physical security, and safety systems and procedures, including access control, security cameras, life-safety, and other systems to protect the workforce and company assets.
d. Oversee executive protection services, ensuring security measures for company executives. Plan and coordinate travel security for corporate leadership while engaged in Wellmark business travel. Implement travel risk management protocols, conducting intelligence gathering prior to travel. This may involve Wellmark personnel and / or third-party executive security consultants.
e. Provide security support for corporate events, external meetings, and crisis response situations.
f. Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats and develop mitigation strategies.
g. Lead incident response efforts related to physical security threats and life safety events. In partnership with key internal stakeholders collect protective intelligence, analyze data, develop processes, and conduct analysis to mitigate risk and threat to Wellmark executives, associates, vendors, contractors, and customers.
h. Lead confidential investigations into alleged security violations, incidents and vulnerabilities in coordination with the Legal and Human Resources Departments, including thefts, threats, violence, vandalism, criminal activities, etc.
i. Day-to-day management of tasks relating to financial and human resources, primarily focusing on employee coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for staff and departmental-specific functions / services.
j. Develop and conduct training programs for employees, focusing on workplace safety, travel security, and executive safety awareness.
k. Manage all aspects of the contract guard service program and vendor, including contracting, procedural development, day-to-day vendor management and staffing, training and SLA delivery.
l. Ensure company policy, procedures, and programs are properly executed within corporate guidelines and culture to support the workforce. Analyze, develop, monitor, and implement policies and programs to effectively reduce risks to the workforce and Wellmark.
m. Ensure compliance with industry security standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Oversee security systems, including access control, site / building security monitoring, and event protection protocols. Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security operations, life safety events, and emergency response scenarios.
