POSITION TITLE: Lead Residential Technician

DEPARTMENT: Therapeutic Shelter

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Lead Residential Technician is responsible for the supervision, safety and overall wellbeing of our clients while engaged in the Therapeutic Shelter. The Lead Residential Technician is part of a multi- disciplinary team that assists our clients to achieve their recovery. The Lead Residential Technician is the leader in organizing, scheduling, facilitating and oversees the day-to-day residential component of the program. This includes but is not limited to; transportation to outside appointments, supervision of self-administration of medication, screening referrals and supporting household tasks and duties of residential services. The Lead Technician will promote recovery skills with clients through day-to-day interactions.

SUPERVISION: Supervised by: Program Manager of Therapeutic Shelter

Examples Of Responsibilities

  • Supervises clients throughout the shift to ensure client safety. Including client counts, supervised smoke breaks and client down time. Support clients in completing their activities of daily living (ADLs) for themselves and the program.
  • Assist all shift monitors in ensuring client’s medication and medication room policies and protocols are followed by all staff. Support with training others in the Self- Administration of Medication process, under the guidance of the Program Manager and Medical team.
  • Oversight, planning and coordinating transportation for clients to ensure safety and compliance with medical appointments or CSSD obligations, connection to community resources and basic needs. Assisting with and ensuring supervision of clients off site during these trips and appointments as appropriate.
  • Facilitating Psycho-Educational group sessions with clients. Topics to help clients achieve their treatment plan goals including but not limited to; household management, budgeting, job readiness, health and wellness and obtaining basic needs.
  • Responsible for completing shift notes, documenting events that took place on shift and observation of client’s behavior and symptoms. May be responsible for completing incident reports as necessary.
  • Complete Supervised Drug Screens, utilizing a trauma informed approach. Documentation of these screens and communicate concerns to the clinical and medical team. Responsible for inventory and management of supplies and collection.
  • Oversees all functions of the kitchen and food safety for the Program. Including but not limited to food safety training for staff, collaboration with food services department to ensure menu is posted and followed, ensuring all regulations of The Department of Public Health are followed at all shifts.
  • Oversight of the presentation of the physical appearance of the building and grounds. Create daily and weekly chore schedules for clients, communicate assignment of chores to the clients and the program staff. Work with the other members of the team to support clients to complete their chores on a daily basis.
  • Lead the admission process for new admits, including bag searches to ensure client safety and compliance with program policies and protocols. Complete random room searches with the support of a supervisor.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, agency committees and work groups as assigned by management. Part of the Environment of Care Committee, ensuring all building security, fire safety and health code standards are followed at all times. May be required to participate in trainings (both on site and off site) as determined by the Director of Residential Services and/or Vice President of Adult Services.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates Degree/two years of college in Human Services related field is preferred. Experience as a substitute may be considered. At least six months of experience working with cases similar to those served and working in a Residential setting is required. Training preferred on the following topics; Treatment Criteria for Addictive, Substance-Related, and Co-Occurring Conditions (ASAM), Co-occurring disorders, including prevalence, signs/symptoms, assessment, treatment and the impact of one’s own attitudes/beliefs on the delivery of services and the use of naloxone in response to an opioid overdose. A valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required and must be CPR and First Aid Certified.

Must be able to develop positive working relationships with our clients and must abide by the Code of Ethics. Individual must act as a positive role model to our clients. Must demonstrate computer competency in Windows and Outlook with ability to quickly learn and accurately maintain agency-specific electronic files. Must display willingness and ability to adapt to new situations and challenges. Must consistently maintain a pleasant, professional attitude. Must demonstrate an ability to exercise exceptional judgment and deliver meet high standards of customer service. Must exhibit initiative and accept accountability for tasks. Must demonstrate and ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including coverage for co-workers during vacations, illness. Including day, evening and weekend hours as needed. Must be able to work mandated shifts due to staff shortage, weather, or emergent events.
