Position Summary

This full-time hourly position is responsible for assisting the Food Safety and Quality Manager and HACCP team in maintaining quality compliance internally and externally regarding Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform tests to produce reliable and precise data for product hold or release from a computerized inventory system.
• Operate and maintain standard testing equipment such as Moisture Analyzers, Water Activity Units.
• Inventory parts and supplies to ensure the laboratory is well-stocked.
• Utilize computers for data analysis and preparation of graphs.
• Assist in managing the Environmental Testing program.
• Collect and analyze data from third-party labs for equipment calibrations and troubleshooting.
• Review and audit production data for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct line check in production to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed.
• Review incoming material inspections and supplier-provided Certificates of Analysis.
• Complete material reviews and escalate issues when necessary.
• Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action plan, including internal corrective actions.
• Monitor and manage the Quality Hold Program.
• Ensure staff compliance with GMPs, processes, procedures, and food safety programs
• Provide support to production staff and participate in process improvement projects.
• Obtain HACCP training if required and participate in Food Safety Team meetings.
• Participate in Mock Recall events.
• Create and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
• Actively participate in safety training and report safety issues.
• Complete quality and food safety system documentation and verify compliance.
• Preserve the integrity of the BRCGS system and take actions to resolve deficiencies.
• Be an active member of site Quality teams.
• Professionally communicate with suppliers, customers, third-party laboratories, and across all departments.
• Other duties as assigned

Safety

• Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
• Responsible to participate in mandatory safety training program requirements.
• Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries.

Quality & Food Safety

• Completes quality and food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.
• Responsible to participate in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements.
• Preserves the integrity of the BRCGS system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality Policy Manual. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies.
• Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Microbiology) or relative experience.
• Required to read and write English.
• Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Good math and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to work well with others across the organization and project positive behavior.
• Self- motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils and greases.
• Ability to drive vehicle during the workday is required.
