Medical Assistant / Clinical Support Trainer

Job Description

In this role, the Medical Assistant provides assistive care to patients. Facilitates the efficient delivery of patient care, supports the professional role of the licensed staff, and provides support and assistance as directed by licensed staff in rendering basic healthcare to the patient.

Essential Responsibilities :

• Interviews both english and spanish speaking patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
• Acts as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination as requested and assists with procedures.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
• Gives injections or treatments, and coordinates routine laboratory tests.
• Trains new Ma's on interviewing patients, Measuring vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, head circumference, waist measurement, and recording of information of patient's charts.
• Trains new MA's on preparing treatment rooms for examination of patients
• Trains new MA's with covering patient's sheet / drapes and positions instruments and equipment for visit as needed
• Trains new MA's on how to be a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination as requested and to assist with procedures.
• Trains new MA's on cleaning and sterilizing, Instruments, Inventories, and if needed on ordering medical supplies and materials
• Trains new MA's on giving injections or treatments, and coordinates routine laboratory test
• Complete a competency check off list when training has been completed for new hire MA and forwards information to supervisor.
• Stays current with different department's patient flow and chart documentation to assist new hire MA's when training
• Provide weekly update on training progress of new hire MA to supervisor
• Carries out other duties as assigned
