POSITION: MS/HS Science Teacher – Wellpinit High School
In order to provide safe, welcoming, nurturing and inclusive schools for the Wellpinit School District children, staff and community, WSD is seeking a certified teacher at the Wellpinit high school. The purpose of this position is to deliver content specific instruction to students. The teacher will have all professional teaching responsibilities; including lesson planning, parent engagement, assessment, team collaboration, and current safety protocols for the classroom. Participate in professional learning communities and collaboration. Other duties as assigned.
DUTIES:
- Plan lessons, present information, promote discussion, assess performance and modify learning techniques in the correlation of NGSS Standards at the Secondary Level.
- Instruct students in large classroom settings as well as small groups to expand knowledge of scientific method and NGSS science standards
- Encourage active participation and monitor individual student performance to enhance their understanding content and master skills
- Utilize state and district standards in teaching all sciences curriculum.
- Communicate with students and parents through conferences, telephone calls and email about student performance, goal setting, behavior problems and other issues.
- Collaborate with community partners around developing place based learning opportunities in the sciences field.
- Collaborate with school district site teams on family and community engagement science based activities.
· Fosters an educational environment conducive to learning and the maturation process of assigned students; creates an instructional program using an variety of teaching strategies and techniques, including technology designed to meet the individual students’ needs and whole groups which may include at-risk and/or special needs students.
· Attends staff meetings or training when required or recommended.
· Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in education; Endorsement in Secondary Science; Valid WA State Teaching Certificate;
Valid WA State Driver’s license;
Background check and Drug testing required.
Ability to practice ethical, professional, and legal standards of conduct, including the requirements of
confidentiality and communicate with colleagues, follow instructions, and use problem solving and
other skills that will enable you to work as an effective member of the instructional team.
