WellPower is a large, well-established, innovative, and vibrant community mental health center that provides outpatient mental health services to individuals recovering from serious and persistent mental illness. WellPower has two retail pharmacies embedded in our clinic sites. The pharmacies are designed to provide medications to persons in services at WellPower, and the community at large. Pharmacy staff support persons served, nursing staff, and medical staff. Primary duties for this position include order entry and dispensing duties, resolution of insurance issues, and communicating effectively with residential staff at assisted living facilities. The current pharmacy staff have been with WellPower anywhere from 9 months to 20 years, with an average of 8 years length of service.

Pharmacist engage in all aspects of Pharmaceutical Care, including reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities, prescription dispensing, maintaining records, counseling consumers. Review drug therapies according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements. Provide medication information to patients, staff, and other health professionals. Provide Pharmacy Practice Services under Colorado State Wide Protocols and/or under a Collaborative Practice Agreement with a WellPower Provider.

Pay Range & Benefits:

  • $58.03 - $68.27/hour
  • $2.50/hour Spanish differential after passing a language proficiency exam

HOURS: Monday through Friday, day shift, 40 hours per week

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide Pharmacy Non-Dispensing Services. For example, utilize Statewide Protocol for Prescribing of Hormonal Contraceptives, Tobacco Cessation Products, and Statins; Diabetes Education; Blood Pressure Monitoring; and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services.
  • Review prescriptions for drug interactions, incompatibilities, and accuracy.
  • Consult with providers as necessary to clarify prescriptions.
  • Review consumer profiles for potential drug interactions, duplicate therapy, and appropriate dosages.
  • Direct pharmacy technicians engaged in counting, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Answer questions and provide information to pharmacy consumers on drug interactions,
  • side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Keep informed of all local, state, and federal laws covering the storage, handling, and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting each prescription order to determine that it meets all legal requirements.
  • Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enter data, such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacyfiles, charge system, and inventory.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Follow the professional code of ethics for pharmacists.
  • Provide drug information to WellPower staff and other healthcare professionals upon request.
  • Maintain records as required by Colorado Board of Pharmacy and federal regulations.
  • Administer vaccines per WellPower protocol.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed environment of well-being.
  • Perform other related duties as requested/required.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Doctorate. Valid Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist preferred.
  • Experience in non-dispensing pharmacy practice services such as prescribing under clinical protocol and disease-state management preferred.
  • Experience in providing in-depth diabetes and metabolic syndrome education, possibly in a clinic setting.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds preferred.
  • Experience working on diverse teams preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma-informed principles and practices.
  • Solid customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to flex communication styles to multiple cultural environments.
  • Must have good organizational and both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Immunization certification and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Pharmacist-in-charge, in the absence of the pharmacy manager. No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Tuberculosis (TB) screening, testing - TB screening and testing, is required and must be completed prior to hire ( i.e., preplacement), and maintained during employment
