What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Manager - Le Mars, IA - Hybrid position at Wells Enterprises?
Responsible for leadership and oversight of end to end payroll process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments. Is the liaison to the rest of the organization on payroll functions and leads interactions for any external reporting requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversee and direct payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations. Validates the accuracy of weekly payroll processes. Ensures appropriate documentation has been provided for payments made.
- Responsible for overall health and process controls within payroll function. Ensures we have reliable processes for recurring transactions and uses business expertise to address challenges. Relies on strong business relationships to help prioritize activities where change is needed. Works effectively across the organization and third party partners to implement scalable end to end processes.
- Responsible for month end close activity. Reviews and approves monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Accurately resolve any discrepancies.
- Monitors industry regulations and leads efforts to establish payroll policies and processes to support these requirements. Lead cross functional teams to establish processes to support these requirements.
- Leads quarterly and year-end payroll balancing to support timely distribution of W2s. Ensures appropriate payroll tax filings and payments have occurred.
- Ability to lead, develop and inspire team to achieve common goals, provide guidance and mentorship, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Coordinates all external data requests for payroll data including external audits and government reporting requirements. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and resolving any issues, concerns or escalation by the payroll team.
- Maintains and ensures the integrity and confidentiality of all employee files.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field. Payroll certification is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5-8 years of related experience. 3 years of leading people and teams.
Knowledge: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and analytical concepts. Knowledge of payroll regulations and requirements
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle, Lawson, and Kronos. Must possess strong communication, organization, problem solving and analytical skills.
Abilities: Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multi-task and effectively manage priorities. Ability to design ad-hoc system queries based on knowledge of file structures.
