General Description : The Estimator is responsible for analyzing bid documents,recording precastprestressed concrete material types and quantities,preparing accurate cost statements based upon company standards andguidelines, writing proposal notes and qualifications that are job specific,and submitting cost estimates to salesperson for bidding before schedule duedate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications to identify precast itemssystems to bid.
- Interface with engineering group to request quantity take-offs and bidding parameters.
- Create and assemble project budgets and parameters for team review. Double check estimated costs for errors.
- Prepare project proposals for bidding using company standards and guidelines. Cost estimates are comprised of five (5) basic categories, production, drafting and engineering, logistics, field installation and miscellaneous costs.
- Attend project kick-off meetings after award as required.
- Prepare quotations for awarded projects.
- Establish and maintain a good rapport with general contractors.
- Encourage the use of precast concrete products to architects, engineers, and owners.
- Develop a shop drawingcontract approval schedule to minimize delays on each project.
- Entry-level sales functions for selected projects.
- Must be willing to go to jobsite visits if required.
- Perform other duties as generally or specifically assigned. EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
- College education preferred, but not required.
- Previous SalesEstimating experience required.
- Precast or construction industry experience preferred.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications manuals.
- Drafting knowledge preferred.
- Proficiency at reading structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and basic commercial building design.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use a calculator and computer.
- Ability to formulate and calculate mathematical expressions.
- Proficient with Excel, Bluebeam, Word, Sketchup, and Revit Lite.
- Possession of a valid drivers license, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Requires climbing on buildings during jobsite visits.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as 6 leatherwork boots, hardhat, safety glasses, and hearing protection when going into production areasconstruction sites. WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Requires both indoor and outdoor work.
