Position Summary
The Family Resource Aide (FRA) is responsible for assisting the FRC Coordinator in coordinating all aspects of the Birth & Beyond (B&B) Family Resource Center (FRC). The FRA reports to the FRC Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Maturity and experience in successfully working with infants and children (0-12 years of age) and their families;
- Knowledge of normal child growth/development and parent-child relationships;
- Ability to relate to families from a strengths-based model, even in chaotic environments, ability to approach families from a family centered service model;
- Knowledgeable about local community resources;
- Ability to establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries while providing supportive services;
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing and demonstrate a high level of listening skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value systems and behavior norms.
- Exceptional Customer Service skills including active listening, problem solving, and the ability to remain calm in emotional or stressful situations.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of services for the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins; disabled, homeless, substance users, HIV (AIDS) infected, and/or physiologically impaired.
- Current CPR and first aid certificate or willingness to be trained required within first (90) ninety days of employment.
- Willing to work independently and well with others and be a team player.
- Commitment and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include day, evening, and weekend hours;
- Able to travel between sites and to offsite events.
Essential Responsibilities
- Facilitate appropriate parenting workshops, including planning, coordinating and administering appropriate assessments;
- Assist in planning groups and activities for the FRC and community in cooperation with the FRC Coordinator and FRC Neighborhood Activities Specialist, and participate as requested;
- Model nurturing attitudes and behaviors in all contacts with program participants and teammates;
- Assist in coordinating transportation/transporting individuals for FRC related programs/activities;
- Be responsible for the infants or children in his/her care while children are in the B&B FRC, Play care, and other FRC related activities;
- Act at all times in a manner that ensure the physical and emotional health, safety, and well being of the infants/children in groups;
- Staff Play care as scheduled and alert the FRC Coordinator when assistance in Play care is needed;
- Assist with outreach, community engagement, and referrals;
- Assist with outreach at community events;
- Maintain a safe, clean, resourceful, and enriching FRC environment for families and staff;
- Submit accurate and timely daily attendance reports, progress notes, and data collection;
- Assist with accurate and timely completion of FRC Only progress notes, and data collection;
- Attend weekly supervision with the FRC Coordinator;
- Observe the child/children’s behavior and consult with the FRC Coordinator regarding any observations and concerns about the child’s development that the Home Visitor, Team Leader, and Multi-Disciplinary Resource Team (MRT) should know;
- Attend and participate in MRT as assigned;
- Attend appropriate B&B trainings provided by the Family Support Collaborative, the County of Sacramento, and its Contractors;
- Support Home Visitors in the home and assist with follow-up calls and letters to families as needed.
- Train to become a Home Visitor, if applicable;
- Be temporarily assigned a B&B Home Visiting family in the extended absence of a Home Visitor, a language capacity challenge at the site, or at the discretion of the Program Manager and Team Leader, if applicable;
- Interpret for families as requested and as applicable;
- Attend required MediCal Administrative Activities (MAA) trainings, participate in MAA claimable activities as defined in the MAA claim plan, and accurately complete MAA time studies;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
