Position Summary
The supervisor is responsible for assisting the Program Manager and Director with daily Crisis Receiving for Behavioral Health (CRBH) operations. The supervisor helps develop and ensure compliance with policies, processes, Joint Commission quality standards, and safety and infection control. This includes supervising 24-hour program staff, assisting with meeting productivity standards maintaining the quality and confidentiality of patient records, and monitoring the quality and efficiency of the program and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Human Services related field preferred or four years of direct Supervisory experience with a crisis intervention program.
- A combination of education, supervisory experience, and work in the medical or substance use disorder or social services field is required.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Two years of experience in working with people with active addiction preferred.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment, respecting and valuing the perspectives and experiences of others
- Experience with SmartCare, Avatar, or other EHR preferred.
- Familiar with Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered theory;
- Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Must demonstrate an ability to work with culturally diverse populations;
- Must be able to maintain appropriate roles and boundaries with staff and clients;
- Strong supervisory and employee coaching skills. Two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Communicate with a multi-disciplinary team verbally and/or in writing daily.
- Responsible for the site-specific support plans as client needs dictate.
- Must demonstrate a high level of verbal, writing, and listening skills;
- Must demonstrate a commitment to HIPPA rules of confidentiality;
- Must have a current CPR and first aid certificate or willingness to be trained. Required within first ninety days of employment.
- Ability to put patient well-being at the center of the work.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and ensure all tasks are completed by deadlines.
- Must maintain consistent attendance and punctuality;
- Computer literacy including Word and Excel; electronic health record experience a plus;
- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
- Must have valid driver’s license and insurable driving record that meets the organization’s insurance policy standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention services and work with patients experiencing homelessness and co-occurring disorders such as mental health, chronic medical conditions, and substance use disorders at a high acuity care facility requiring 24/7 patient support and monitoring.
- Provide direct supervision to staff to staff who provide crisis intervention and counseling services to patients with active addiction, mental health diagnoses, or both.
- Assist in hiring, training, directing, and supervising staff, including scheduling for a 24-hour facility. Ensure staff follows proper intake and discharge protocols.
- Meet and ensure staff meet quality and performance standards for billing using EHR system.
- Monitor program outcomes and work with CRBH team to meet expectations.
- Comply with all contractual requirements, including Sacramento County, Cal AIM, Drug Medi-Cal or Medi-Cal, or FQHC Regulations.
- Assist with department and organization quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
- Participate in individual administrative staff supervision, including writing and presenting performance evaluations and improvement plans as needed.
- Represent WellSpace Health at external meetings as required.
- Ensure all contract obligations are met, including required staffing, billing procedures, and data reporting.
- Contribute to the development of special projects as requested.
- Working weekends and responding after hours to calls or various sites for emergencies or other immediate issues.
- Facilitate and or participate in conference calls and staff meetings.
- Provide program support, including transportation as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and arms to reach. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care.
