What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Associate position at Wellspring Health Access?
The Development Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting in carrying out the fundraising strategy to sustain and enhance the mission of Wellspring Health Access. This position reports to the Development Director and works collaboratively and strategically with all WHA staff. The purpose of this position is to provide research and administrative support.
WHA opens clinics that provide abortion care in underserved communities so that all people can make their own decisions about their health care and obtain bodily autonomy. Work hours for this position are between 40-45 hours per week, with additional weekend and evening hours as required.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research on prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations identified as potential sources of private funds for specific projects. In addition, conducts ongoing research in business, philanthropy and related fields to identify potential donors and sources of donor information.
- Prepares a variety of reports including contact and giving, using constituency information database. Enter data into database on a timely basis for prospect and current donor tracking purposes.
- Prepares information required for successful call time with the President of the organization and any other board members. Follow up with potentials donors after calls are completed.
· Manages effective systems for tracking and cultivating contributors through the organizational database.
· Assists with coordination of events. Staffing events as needed.
· Assembles media and donor kits for events & meetings.
· Follow up with donors.
· Assist with donor recognition, including donor thank you cards, phone calls, and emails.
· Providing direct support staffing to the Development Director and President for development related responsibilities.
· Occasional fundraising, travel and visits as needed.
· Assisting in the preparation of mailings for distribution.
· Performing other development activities as may be required.
Qualifications
· High school diploma. Bachelor’s degree desired.
· One to three years of development experience preferrable
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment.
- Eager to meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility.
- Computer literate and technologically proficient in standard word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
· Excellent attention to details and follow-through as demonstrated through effective project management experience. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
· Abilityto see the broad picture of reproductive rights while working to implement the details of an organization.
· People skills to reach and relate to a broad spectrum and cross-section of potential contributors.
· Self-driven and eager to achieve goals.
