EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER/ PARENTING COACH
Full Time at 40 hours per week
Wellspring is searching for an Early Childhood and Parent Coach. The Early Childhood Teacher/Parenting Coach’s primary responsibility is to ensure quality programming by designing and delivering (in a home environment) developmentally appropriate activities for no more than ten children under the age of 5. This position will have one mother working as an aid with the teacher. Additional responsibilities are to provide incidental and occasional direct guidance in parenting skills as needed for the mothers in the program. Other responsibilities include the completion of developmental assessments, using the ASQ tool and referring children for developmental intervention as needed. Additional responsibilities include completing paperwork and reports, and maintaining records and data on individual children.
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field is required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field is preferred; experience using Nurturing Parent Curriculum preferred; a minimum of two years’ experience in an early childhood setting is required. Home visiting experience a plus. Infant/toddler endorsement a plus. Must obtain and maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.
Position Specific Essential Function:
Early childhood education
Integrate and when feasible, go above and beyond the state family childcare licensing activities into daily activities
Create and maintain respectful partnerships with families.
Provide support in parent and child activities that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for the changing needs of infants and toddlers.
Develop and utilize lesson plans which reflect both mandated elements and parental and cultural influences, and which promote the social emotional, physical, and cognitive development of all children.
Individualize one-to-one and group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all children.
Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement.
Meet the needs of all children including those at risk, those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse.
Planning, Preparation & Documentation
Be familiar with and incorporate where feasible, all state childcare licensing regulations into the coordination and care of the children while their parents are in treatment.
Complete developmental screenings (using the ASQ) and all other required assessments with families in a timely manner.
Coordinate with parents and program staff to ensure that prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments re completed and necessary follow up occurs.
Review each child's goals and write comprehensive individual plans designed to promote current learning and attend to nutritional, health, and social issues.
Maintain accurate written/electronic records including: health information, assessments, and any other documentation.
Parent Meetings & Coordination of parent aid.
Plan and facilitate individual meetings which provide education and information on child’s current growth and development.
Coordinate parent volunteer schedule, assuring adequate involvement and an appropriate adult to child ratio.
Communicate frequently with other staff and parents; serve as liaison among medical and social services in the community; act as advocate for families.
Additional Job Responsibilities
Meet regularly with program director, staff and community collaborators to assure quality services.
Ensure all toys are cleaned throughout the day per licensing regulations. Attend meetings, trainings and appropriate professional development activities.
Assist with generating In-Kind donations.
