Wellspring Summer Day Camp is seeking a compassionate, mission-driven Special Education Coordinator (SEC) to support the academic, behavioral, and emotional success of youth with diverse learning needs during our innovative summer program. This role ensures that all campers, including those with IEPs and 504 plans, can fully participate in and benefit from our inclusive camp environment.
As the Special Education Coordinator, you will work closely with Wellspring directors, camp staff, families, and external partners to implement and monitor accommodations, provide hands-on support, and cultivate a supportive, welcoming space for all campers. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a high-energy, enrichment-focused summer experience.
We are seeking a SEC who is willing to commit to a 6-week program running from June 2nd–July 11th. Training and prep work will take place the week before camp.
Training Schedule:
- In-Person Training: Monday, May 19th, 5:00–8:00 PM — Wellspring Summer Day Camp Procedures and Safety Training
Program Schedule:
- Dates: June 2nd–July 11th, 2025
- Hours: 8:00 AM-3:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- Camp Closed:
- June 19th, 2025
- July 4th, 2025
Compensation:
- Weekly Payment: $1,000 per week
- Total Compensation: $7,000
Responsibilities:
- Support the successful inclusion of all campers, particularly those with disabilities, learning differences, or behavioral needs
- Collaborate with camp staff to implement individualized supports and accommodations
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on best practices for managing behaviors and creating inclusive environments
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers regarding student progress and concerns
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to camper needs, behavior plans, and incidents
- Serve as a liaison between camp staff and school-based teams or service providers as needed
- Foster a welcoming, safe, and responsive camp culture that promotes camper independence and success
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in an educational or camp setting
- Knowledge of IEPs, 504 plans, and behavioral intervention strategies
- Experience collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
