As a Direct Support Specialist Team Lead within the Bethesda Homes at Wellspring, you’ll be part of a team of direct support staff and administrative professionals committed to helping individuals in Saginaw. In this position, you'll be directly supporting your community in Saginaw County to provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. In this position, you will bring an Associate’s Degree in a relevant field or a professional license such as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is required, you must have one year experience in a direct care role or medical provider environment preferred. You will also have a valid Michigan driver's license and your own reliable transportation. Additionally, you will be reliable, and have a compassionate approach and a commitment to quality in everything you do.
As a Direct Support Specialist Team Lead, you will:
- Oversee the daily activities of Direct Care Workers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high quality care is delivered consistently.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages professional development and teamwork.
- Conduct unscheduled and unannounced pop-in visits to all shifts once per week to ensure consistent oversight and quality care.
- Each pop-in must be accompanied by the completion of a Pop-In Report to document observations, interactions, and necessary follow up actions.
- Provide direct care to residents while engaging them in activities that uphold their dignity and respect, ensuring that care aligns with the Individual Plans of Service (IPOS).
- Offer comprehensive personal care, including administering prescribed medications, assisting with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene tasks.
- Oversee meal preparation and service according to each resident’s dietary requirements and preferences.
- Ensure compliance with established menus and nutritional guidelines, and maintain accurate documentation of any substitutions or deviations.
- Facilitate and document weekly Resident Council Meetings to incorporate residents’ wants and needs into menu preparation.
- Prepare written menu requests for Home Manager approval.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and educational programs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in best practices for care.
- Assist the Home Manager in maintaining and reconciling the personal finds ledger for clients ensuring accurate tracking of residents’ funds and compliance with established financial protocols.
