As a Nursing Department Manager with the Monroe Skilled Nursing and Rehab Campus at Wellspring, you'll be part of a team of nurses, CNAs, and senior support staff committed to helping seniors and families in Monroe. In this position, you'll be directly supporting your community in Monroe County to provide services to seniors. In this position, you must be currently licensed by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and successful completion of an accredited Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nursing program. Two years of nursing experience with current home health, medical, surgical, or critical care experience preferred.
As a Nursing Department Manager, you will :
Provide quality nursing care to residents in an environment which promotes their rights, dignity, and person centered care.
Provide individualized attention, which encourages each resident's ability to maintain or attain the highest level of independence and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; report environmental deficiencies such as lighting or equipment problems to the supervisor or appropriate staff
Protect the personal belongings of each resident. Promptly report missing items according to established policy and participate in efforts to locate missing items
Keeps Supervisor up to date on resident status
Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors
Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and standard precautions
Participate in meetings as required
Assist with staff education, orientation, and “twenty-four (24) hour “on-call” coverage, as requested
Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee, and assist in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to improve performance
Coordinate all admissions with Admissions Coordinator
Lead all staff on the unit on all shifts
Evaluate outcome of care and nursing judgments on a daily basis to assure high quality care
Work with the MDS Coordinator in regards to ADL scoring
Attend care conferences
Able to communicate with staff and monitor for any problems; follow up with DRC if necessary and proceed with disciplinary steps as needed per policy
Complete evaluations for nursing staff on the unit as directed
Assure the aides are completing walking rounds and report to each other at shift change; assure that the nurse gives a thorough report to the aides; assure that the off-going nurse gives a thorough report to oncoming nurse
Review EHR periodically to assure proper and timely documentation being done
Assure documentation reflects the resident’s status, indicating progress, maintenance, or decline; must ensure that a resident’s abilities in activities of daily living do not diminish unless circumstances of the resident’s clinical condition demonstrate that decline was unavoidable
Responsible to assure incident reports are filled out when needed, and properly done; assist DRC with instruction when areas are incomplete or not accurately assessed
Admissions - assure a thorough assessment is done, per facility policy
Document and review on 24 hr. report daily. Identify sheets any pertinent issues and / or changes; assure that each shift follows through with needed documentation. Ensure physician and family are notified as per policy.
