About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Wellspring Nurse Source. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography scans on patients and providing vital diagnostic information to physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation and Care:
Develop and implement effective patient assessment processes to determine the most appropriate CT scan procedure based on individual patient needs.
Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of the CT procedure.
Position patients safely and comfortably to ensure accurate imaging and minimal discomfort.
Monitor patients' condition during the scan and adjust procedures as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- CT Scanning and Equipment Operation:
Operate advanced CT scanners to capture high-quality diagnostic images that meet the highest standards.
Apply technical expertise to adjust scanner settings and optimize image quality for each patient.
Administer contrast agents as required for certain imaging exams, adhering to strict safety protocols.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to ensure CT equipment is functioning optimally.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
Collaborate closely with radiologists and physicians to ensure high-quality images and efficient workflow.
Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient conditions, test results, and any issues encountered during the scanning process.
Guide patients through the scanning process and provide post-scan instructions, including follow-up care or next steps as needed.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, imaging results, and procedure notes.
Complete imaging requisitions and maintain electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
Track and log contrast usage, patient allergies, and any adverse reactions.
- Safety and Infection Control:
Implement strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
Utilize personal protective equipment, such as lead aprons, as necessary to ensure safe working conditions.
Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean and sterile environment in the CT room.
Ensure that all safety checks, such as equipment calibration and contrast administration, are followed to prevent adverse events.
- Patient Education and Support:
Provide clear instructions to patients on what to expect before, during, and after the CT scan.
Address patient anxiety or concerns, offering reassurance and ensuring their comfort throughout the process.
Explain the importance of the CT procedure and any follow-up actions, as needed.
- Maintenance and Quality Control:
Conduct regular maintenance checks on CT equipment, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel for repairs or adjustments.
Adhere to protocols for ensuring the quality of images meets the required standards.
Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with new imaging technologies, techniques, and safety practices.
- Education:
An associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
A completion of a formal CT training program is preferred.
- Licensure and Certification:
A current certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent.
A certification in CT (ARRT-CT) preferred or required within a specified period after hire.
A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience:
Previous experience as a CT Technologist is preferred, but new graduates with clinical training may also be considered.
- Skills:
A knowledge of CT scanning techniques, equipment, and radiation safety protocols.
A strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members.
An ability to handle patients with various needs and conditions in a calm and professional manner.
