Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
An ICU Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within the intensive care unit (ICU). The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to critically ill patients, closely monitoring vital signs and managing life-sustaining systems.
- Conduct thorough assessments, develop tailored care plans, and implement evidence-based interventions to address complex patient needs.
- Administer medications, blood products, and other interventions as necessary to manage acute conditions such as respiratory failure, cardiovascular instability, trauma, infections, and post-surgical complications.
- Effectively operate and interpret complex medical equipment, including ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate seamlessly with physicians, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to provide timely interventions and coordinate critical care treatments.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures, including arterial and central line placement, intubation, and blood gas analysis, with precision and skill.
- Provide expert nursing care for patients receiving intensive therapies, such as mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy (dialysis), and vasoactive medications.
- Swiftly identify and respond to life-threatening complications, such as sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and organ failure.
- Educate patients and their families about critical care conditions, treatment plans, and recovery processes, fostering a supportive environment.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of patient care, adhering to ICU standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a valuable resource to colleagues, offering clinical guidance, mentorship, and support in critical care settings.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control practices and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred; an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is also accepted.
- Licensure: A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice is required.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, while Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desirable.
