Other key responsibilities include maintaining accurate and thorough patient records, communicating effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient progress, and coordinating care with physicians, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state. You should also have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable operating and maintaining medical equipment and performing procedures such as catheterizations, wound care, and IV insertions. Additionally, you should be able to recognize and respond to deteriorating patient conditions, initiating life-saving interventions when necessary.
