The Operating Room (OR) Nurse is responsible for providing direct care to patients undergoing surgery. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the operating room, ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preoperative Care: Assess patients' medical histories, perform physical assessments, and verify patient identity and surgical site.
- Intraoperative Care: Assist the surgical team by providing sterile instruments and monitoring patients' vital signs.
- Postoperative Care: Monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia and provide postoperative education to patients and their families.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Licensure: Current state RN license in good standing.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
