Job Title: Pharmacist
A pharmacist is a licensed healthcare professional who plays a critical role in patient care by providing medication management, counseling, and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and in compliance with legal and professional standards.
- Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy, safety, and appropriateness, consulting with healthcare providers when necessary.
- Educate patients on the proper use, dosage, and potential side effects of medications, promoting adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop, monitor, and optimize medication therapy.
- Maintain patient records and ensure the accurate documentation of medication orders, interactions, and patient responses.
- Advise patients and healthcare professionals on medication interactions, contraindications, and potential adverse reactions.
- Monitor and manage medication inventories, ensuring the availability of essential medications and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development and implementation of drug utilization protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Provide immunizations, health screenings, and other services as permitted by state regulations.
- Stay current with developments in pharmacology, medication safety, and emerging pharmaceutical technologies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.
Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Pharmacist from the appropriate state board of pharmacy.
- Certification: Advanced certifications (e.g., Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or specialty certifications) may be preferred, depending on the practice setting.
