Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation and Care:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine the most suitable CT scan procedure based on their medical history and physician's orders.
  • Develop effective communication strategies to educate patients about the CT procedure and address any concerns they may have.
  • Implement safe and efficient patient positioning techniques to ensure accurate imaging while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patient condition during the scan, ensuring they remain still and follow instructions.
• CT Scanning and Equipment Operation:
  • Operate advanced CT machines to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Optimize CT scanner settings to achieve the best possible image quality for each procedure.
  • Administer contrast agents safely and efficiently, following established protocols to ensure patient safety and optimal image quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to ensure CT equipment operates at peak performance and conduct quality control checks to ensure image quality meets required standards.
• Collaboration with Medical Team:
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists and physicians to ensure accurate image interpretation and provide additional scans or follow-up imaging as requested.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient conditions, test results, and any issues encountered during the scanning process.
  • Assist patients in navigating the scanning process and provide clear instructions on follow-up care or next steps, if necessary.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Accurately document patient information, including medical history, imaging results, and procedure notes, in the electronic health record system.
  • Complete imaging requisitions and adhere to hospital policies and regulations for electronic health records.
  • Log contrast usage, patient allergies, and any adverse reactions to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
• Safety and Infection Control:
  • Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment, such as lead aprons, as necessary to protect against radiation exposure.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the CT room by adhering to infection control practices.
  • Verify that all safety checks, including equipment calibration and contrast administration, are completed to prevent adverse events.
• Patient Education and Support:
  • Provide comprehensive education to patients on what to expect before, during, and after the CT scan.
  • Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure their comfort throughout the process.
  • Explain the significance of the CT procedure and any follow-up actions, as necessary.
• Maintenance and Quality Control:
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on CT equipment to identify and report any issues to the appropriate personnel for repair or adjustment.
  • Comply with established protocols to ensure image quality meets required standards.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with emerging imaging technologies, techniques, and safety practices.

Requirements:

• Education:
  • An associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Completion of a formal CT training program is preferred.
• Licensure and Certification:
  • Current certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Certification in CT (ARRT-CT) preferred or required within a specified period after hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience:
  • Previous experience as a CT Technologist is preferred, but new graduates with clinical training may also be considered.
• Skills:
  • Knowledge of CT scanning techniques, equipment, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images.
