A Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, compassionate care to infants, children, and adolescents, addressing their unique physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions specific to pediatric patients, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
- Monitor vital signs, growth patterns, and developmental milestones, identifying any potential health concerns.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure continuity of treatment.
- Educate patients and their families on pediatric health conditions, treatment plans, and strategies for managing care at home.
- Provide emotional support to pediatric patients and their families, helping to alleviate anxiety and promote a positive healthcare experience.
- Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and outcomes.
- Administer immunizations, perform screenings, and provide health education on wellness, growth, and development.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development to maintain expertise in pediatric care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for patient needs and provide family-centered care.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: Previous experience in pediatric nursing.
