Electrophysiology Technician Travel Job
Job Summary:
An Electrophysiology Technologist (EP Tech) assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias through specialized procedures in the electrophysiology (EP) lab.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the electrophysiology lab for procedures by setting up equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Assist in diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures, including ablations, pacemaker insertions, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placements.
- Operate and maintain specialized EP lab equipment, such as 3D mapping systems, stimulators, and recording systems.
- Monitor and record patient vitals and intracardiac signals during procedures, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assist with the placement and positioning of catheters under fluoroscopic guidance.
- Administer medications under physician supervision and monitor patient responses.
- Prepare sterile fields and adhere to strict infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with the electrophysiology team to identify and treat arrhythmias during procedures.
- Provide patient education regarding post-procedure care and device management.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of EP lab equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support emergency electrophysiology procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or a related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Certification: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
- Previous experience in an electrophysiology lab or cardiac cath lab is preferred.
