Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary:
A Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Prepare and assist patients before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures, ensuring the safe administration of medications and sedation.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic status during procedures, utilizing advanced monitoring equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, interventional cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient procedural care.
- Administer medications, including sedation and pain management, as prescribed for procedures such as angioplasty and stent placement.
- Educate patients and their families on procedure preparation, post-procedure care, and recovery expectations.
- Monitor patients for complications, such as bleeding, arrhythmias, or hemodynamic instability, and provide immediate intervention as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, procedures, and interventions, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and professional development related to cardiac care.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families, addressing concerns regarding procedures and recovery.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Licensure:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL) certification preferred.
