Group Exercise Instructor

Facility: Kennestone Hospital

Job Summary:

The Group Exercise Instructor functions under the direction of the Program Supervisor and/or Aquatics Supervisor. Responsible for designing the components, choreography, and music (if applicable) of the assigned land and/or aquatic group exercise class. Will lead participants through a safe and effective group exercise class at the appropriate and established class style and intensity.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Lead land and/or aquatic group exercise classes * Understand contraindicated exercises providing a safe and effective approach to exercise * Teach within standard guidelines of specialty certifications * Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements * Provides class with exercise movements that are physiologically safe and effective and are of the appropriate intensity for the target audience and established class style * Displays enthusiasm and strives to motivate participants to work out within their individual exercise prescriptions * Uses a variety of exercise movements during classes to provide a complete workout and maintain class interest * Utilizes teaching techniques effectively including verbal and visual cueing/demonstrations Provides support for daily facility maintenance and operations * Maintains cleanliness and safety of group exercise rooms, pool areas, equipment, and other areas of the facility as assigned * Participates in team meetings * Maintains consistent and appropriate communication with leadership staff, team members, and class participants * Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs * Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance * The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules * Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties * Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma GED or currently enrolled in high school Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

ACSM, ACE, AFAA, MOSSA, NSCA, NETA, NASM, IFTA, SCW, AEA, USWFA or any similar group exercise certification accepted as certification requirement within 30 Days Required

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 1 year Experience but will train under leadership supervision. Preferred
