Wellstar Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatry to lead and oversee the clinical and administrative operations of our outpatient psychiatric services. The Medical Director will provide leadership in the delivery of high-quality mental health care, coordinate outpatient psychiatric services, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage outpatient psychiatric services, ensuring clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
- Provide direct patient care, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Supervise and mentor a team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, therapists, and other mental health professionals.
- Develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols, policies, and treatment guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including state and federal guidelines for mental health services.
- Collaborate with Wellstar’s leadership and interdisciplinary teams to develop strategic goals for outpatient psychiatric services.
- Foster a patient-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally competent care environment.
- Oversee quality assurance initiatives, including patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction metrics.
- Participate in recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff.
- Serve as a liaison between outpatient services and inpatient care, ensuring continuity of care for patients transitioning between levels of care.
- Represent the department in organizational meetings and initiatives, advocating for mental health services and community outreach efforts.
- Stay current with developments in psychiatry, mental health treatment, and healthcare management, and promote continuous professional development within the team.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Psychiatry.
- Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia.
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, including outpatient psychiatric services.
- Previous experience in a leadership or administrative role in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in psychiatry and mental health treatment.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and other healthcare professionals.
