Responsibilities

Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana (and part of the UHS Healthcare System) and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, and the CD population.  In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well.  Wellstone is currently looking for a Director of HIM/Medical Records.

 

  • The Director is responsible for directing the activities of the Health Information Management Services Department in the management and maintenance of all patient medical records information.
  • The Director will serve as the Compliance Officer.
  • The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance will all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies and within TJC standards for the quality of patient care.
  • The Director will have supervisory duties of the HIM staff. 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in RHIA plus certified Coder is preferred. Equivalent combination of education, experience or current enrollment in RHIT or RHIA classes is also acceptable. If currently enrolled, classes must be completed within acceptable time frame as agreed by employee and director not to exceed 2 years. 

Experience:  A minimum of five (5) years leadership experience in information management is preferred, with direct experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred.  Thorough knowledge of medical records coding, HIPPA, and medical terminology required.

Licensure:  Certified Coder and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

 

This is a salaried/exempt position.

 

This position will require a very thorough screening process to include but not limited to a pre-employment drug test, CPS check, OIG, National/State/local criminal check, etc.
