WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.
Our Mental Health Tech position is a great entry level role for anyone over 18, with a high school diploma or GED, that is interested in working in the Human Services field. In this position, employees interact with clients experiencing mental health emergencies, support our therapeutic team and learn documentation standards followed by the Department of Mental Health (DMH). This position is full-time, 2nd shift position (Monday-Friday, 4pm-12am).
What we're looking for :
High School Diploma or GED
Familiar with Microsoft Office
Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
Certified in (or ability to obtain) CPR, 1st Aide, and SAMA certifications
What you'll be doing :
Provide consistent instruction, guidance, encouragement, and reinforcement to the clients that are committed to WellStone Emergency Services (WES)
Regularly implement basic living skills (BLS) training objectives and document the progress of our residents in a timely manner in their Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Help to coordinate activities, conduct group therapy, document client's progress, maintain electronic documentation
Work closely with Treatment Team
Regularly completes documentation of staff notes, incident reports, injury reports, shift observations, and other reports
May be required to lift approximately 50 lbs. and push / pull or transport a client or equipment.
Ensure clients comply with rules, maintain a clean and safe environment including the performance of housekeeping, assist the clients when necessary.
Demonstrate good safety skills including fire drills, emergency procedures, and back safety techniques.
Promotes a positive work environment, including positive relationships with supervisors, clients, and their families and co-workers.
Administer medication with supervision as needed
Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings, trainings as required, and remain current on all trainings, certifications
Works as scheduled, correctly complete and submits timesheets, leave requests in a timely manner
Reports any facility or maintenance issues in a timely fashion, and assist in maintaining the facility, and equipment
Performs verbal and at times physical de-escalation techniques as required, in addition to crisis interventions
Report to work on time, willing to remain on shift if unable to be relieved, coordinate coverage with other Behavioral Aides for dates unable to report to work, either annual or sick leave requests
May have to be the escort or guardian for clients who are sent to the Hospital for evaluation.
