What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift (10PM - 6AM) position at Welser Profile North America?
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Check availability of tools, material, and production devices.
- Read and understand the work order content.
- Tear down the tools and clean the machine.
- Adjust tools according to the existing instructions, drawings, and documents.
- Ensure compliance with productivity metrics (setup, speed, downtime, scrap, etc).
- Monitor the manufacturing process and evaluate it for deviations.
- Understand the quality requirements of the product.
- Carry out self-tests in compliance with the test intervals.
- Execute maintenance and service tasks according to the maintenance plan.
- Train other Mill Technicians and Production Associates.
- Coordinate the work of Production Associates for machine efficiency.
- Address errors openly and eliminate the causes
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Perform assigned quality system functions as specified in QMS procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities as determined by supervisor.
- Observe established EHS regulations, procedures, and practices.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Prior manufacturing experience.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading.
- Strong mathematical ability.
- Knowledge of metric system.
- Knowledge of shop floor production software.
- Able to read and interpret documents i.e. safety rules, work instructions, prints, and control plans.
- Ability to use various measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, and other hand tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Must work effectively in a team.
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is provided and required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, coolant, or airborne particles and will work near moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to perform excessive walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, and lifting.
- Ability to visually inspect parts and use of hands to use measuring gauges.
- Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
