Electric Utility Substation Engineer

• Roles:
o As a Substation Engineer, provide engineering oversight on client substation projects.
o As a Substation Engineer, represent the client and provide best-in-class service
o As a Substation Engineer, you will be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
o As a Substation Engineer, provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.

• Responsibilities:
o Represent client on substation projects and technical matters relating to assigned projects
o Perform quality reviews on client substation projects designed by contracted engineering firms, focusing on one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, communication schemes, physical drawings, and perform spot-check on wiring diagrams
o Verify projects are following all applicable client standards
o Provide guidance to engineering firms on projects
o Perform site visits when necessary
o Interface with client’s engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates
o Consult on internal projects when requested by the Director, Project and Portfolio Management 

• Expectations:

o Any need for meetings should be determined by the appropriate Project Engineering Lead and Executive Vice President.
o Share knowledge and train oncoming Project Engineers.
o Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms.
o Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.
o Timesheet entries and expenses to be appropriately applied to corresponding projects and should be submitted weekly.

• Education/Experience:
o Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university
• 5 years of experience as a Substation Engineer
o EIT Certification with the intention to pursue PE license

o PE License Preferred
• Travel
o 10-15% travel (project specific)
