Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV. Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S. In addition Welty provides professional construction management services, specializing in Lean Construction for clients in a variety of healthcare, commercial, education, and hospitality markets nationwide. Some of the most prestigious community projects including Goodyear Tire & Rubber Companys Global Headquarters & Pro Football Hall of Fame.

  • Roles :

As a Transmission Line Engineer, design high voltage transmission lines (34kV 500kV).

  • As a Transmission Line Engineer, prepare construction plan documents as required per project.
  • As a Transmission Line Engineer, perform analysis / modeling of wood, steel, and lattice structures.
  • As a Transmission Line Engineer, you will be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
  • As a Transmission Line Engineer, provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.
  • Responsibilities :

    • Perform site visits when necessary.

  • Interface with clients engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates.
  • Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President.
  • Expectations :

    • Adherence to Welty Core Values, OPTIC (Openness, Passion, Teamwork, Integrity, Customer Centricity).

  • Any need for meetings should be determined by the appropriate Project Engineering Lead and Executive Vice President.
  • Share knowledge and train oncoming Transmission Line Engineers.
  • Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms.
  • Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.
  • Timesheet entries and expenses to be appropriately applied to corresponding projects and should be submitted weekly.
  • Education / Experience :

    • Minimum

    Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Transmission Line Engineer
  • EIT Certification with the intention to pursue PE license
  • Preferred

    • PE License

  • Travel

    • 15-20% travel (project specific)
