Special Education Para-Educator

Lincoln Elementary

6.0 hours per day / 191 days per year

Salary : $20.80 - $23.21 per hour

DESCRIPTION : Assist the Special Education instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students. Provide educational services to students in the special education program. This position may require one-on-one or resource room support. Other related duties as assigned.

  • Building locations subject to change based on student support needs.

QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum AA degree or equivalent or a passed PRAXIS test required. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not required. Ability to make good decisions. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, good communication, teamwork, academic skills and positive social skills and a sense of humor. Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff. May require lifting, prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

SCHEDULE : OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement : The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check : Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
