Summary
We are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team at Wenger Construction. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our HR functions and helping us cultivate a skilled workforce. Your contributions will directly impact our mission of finding and developing great workers.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to Human Resources Manager.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource and safety files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Assisting HR manager with special projects.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department and the Safety Department.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Assist HR Manager in recruiting efforts, organizing recruiting events, and managing promotional items.
- Coordinate employee orientation and onboarding processes for new hires.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, company events.
- Assist in recruiting efforts, schedule interviews, drug screens, and attend career fairs as needed.
- Manage tracking for KPI, reviews, compensation increase, anniversary and birthdays.
- Participate in talent management initiatives to help develop employee skills and career paths.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in business administration, Human Resources, or applicable field OR equivalent experience in Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM or HRCI certified
- Blue Collar Work experience beneficial
