About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Welding Engineer (Specialist) to join a Fortune 500 company in their clean energy and zero-emissions technology group. This role plays a key part in the design, development, and industrialization of welding standards for next-generation battery systems.
You will lead the execution of welding processes, DoE plans, WPS documentation, and provide technical guidance across teams for laser welding (aluminum preferred), welding automation, and welding code compliance (AWS, ISO, EN, API).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own welding engineering standards and procedures for battery components
- Lead and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) for welding processes
- Define welding parameters and support development of WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
- Interpret and work with technical and manufacturing drawings
- Advise on welding joint design and cross-functional manufacturing requirements
- Provide welding expertise for prototype builds and supplier collaboration
- Ensure compliance with global welding codes (AWS, ISO, EN, API)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or a related STEM field
- Proven experience with laser welding (preferably aluminium or stainless steel)
- Knowledge of automated welding systems and industry welding standards
- Experience with WPS, DoE, and interpreting technical drawings
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
