Job Summary

Wenzel's The Bakers Ltd. is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Stores Operative to join our team. As a Stores Operative, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the deliveries and receiving of bakery goods, ensuring accurate stock rotation, and managing our stock system. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Delivery and Receiving: Manage the timely delivery and receiving of bakery goods, including inspecting incoming shipments for accuracy, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
• Stock Rotation: Ensure proper stock rotation by organising products according to expiry dates and implementing the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to minimise waste and ensure product quality.
• Stock Management: Oversee the stock system and maintain accurate records of stock levels, ensuring that the stock database is updated regularly. This includes receiving new stock, tracking stock movements, and updating stock quantities based on sales and deliveries.
• Stock Takes: Conduct regular and accurate stock takes to ensure inventory levels are maintained and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing stock counts and variances.
• Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, anticipate shortages or excesses, and communicate with relevant departments to ensure timely reordering or redistribution of products. Collaborate with the purchasing department to maintain adequate stock levels and minimise stockouts.
• Quality Control: Inspect incoming products for quality and compliance with company standards. Report any quality issues to the appropriate personnel and take necessary actions to resolve or mitigate the problem.
• Communication: Liaise with various departments, including production, sales, and purchasing, to coordinate stock movements and address any stock-related queries or concerns. Maintain open lines of communication to ensure efficient operations.
• Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety guidelines and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. Report any health and safety incidents or hazards promptly.
  
  

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a bakery or food industry setting.
• Strong understanding of stock management principles and experience working with stock systems.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and stock counts.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with stock management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
• The ability to lift and move heavy boxes or products.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.

Pay & Hours

For our Stores Operative role we offer a competitive pay of £12.00 P/H an hour to start, and a working week is 40 hours. The job is 5 days over 7 days and days off will be rotated with the other member of the Stores team.

The average working day will be between 0600 and 1400.
