Immucor is seeking a Scientist I for an entry level position in our Research & Development group. The Scientist I performs a variety of tasks associated with the development of new products and manufacturing processes, the investigation into and implementation of product and process changes, and the transfer of new products and processes to the manufacturing departments. Entry Level Research & Development Scientist (Laboratory)

- Works independently to manage and prioritize workload and assignments.
- Plans and executes own experimental work and may oversee others to accomplish project goals.
- Analyzes associated lines of investigation and devises and recommends methods to resolve problems.
- Adheres to Standard operating procedures, Regulatory and Compliance.
- Collaborates with outside groups on project-related issues or studies.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with all departments.
- Interacts in a positive manner, with all levels of Immucor personnel, to foster
teamwork and successfully communicate pertinent information.
- Contributes to the development of intellectual property.
- Writes reports covering data and scientific publications.
Qualifications:
Additional requirements:
- It is preferable that the candidate have a PhD with 0 - 2 years industrial experience. Candidates with an MS and 6 or more years industrial experience or a BS and 8 or more years of industrial experience will also be considered. Industrial experience must be in the area of in vitro diagnostic assay design and development.
- Knowledge and practice of GMP and GLP highly desirable
- Experience with cell culture methods and procedures including retroviral transfections
- Experience with recombinant expression of proteins in mammalian and bacterial systems
- Experience with protein purification and characterization
- Familiarity with Luminex, ELISA and/or flow cytometry
- Familiarity with HLA immunology is a plus
- General Facility with use of Computer programs: Word processor, Spreadsheets. Experience with SQL is a plus
- Basic knowledge of statistics
