Job Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Leader is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies that align with business goals, ensuring cost efficiency, supply continuity, and quality compliance. This leadership role involves managing supplier relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization. The Strategic Sourcing Leader plays a critical role in risk management, supplier performance optimization, and continuous improvement of procurement processes. Performs responsibilities in accordance with applicable FDA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and state regulations, as well as relevant standards, including but not limited to ISO 13485.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and lead global sourcing strategies to drive cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier performance improvements.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier partnerships, negotiating long-term agreements to secure strategic supply.
- Lead supplier contract negotiations and management to drive successful agreements that align with business objectives and optimize cost, quality, and service.
- Lead cross-functional teams in supplier selection, qualification, and onboarding processes.
- Implement supplier performance management programs, including scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive innovation by collaborating with R&D, Operations, and Quality teams to enhance product development and sourcing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate procurement policies.
- Mentor and develop procurement team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Stay informed about market trends, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes to proactively address potential risks.
Networking/Key relationships
This position works regularly and collaboratively with staff in Werfen’s Receiving, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Production Planning, Shipping, and Finance teams.
Qualifications

- High proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced procurement analytics.

Travel requirements Significant domestic and international travel (20-30%) to supplier locations, corporate meetings, and industry conferences.
