What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Reporting Analyst position at Werner Enterprises?
The main responsibility of Safety Reporting Analyst) (AKA: Medical Records Tech) is to support Corporate Safety Management. Safety Reporting Analysts are responsible for CDL maintenance, accident review processes, DOT physical qualifications, and scheduling DOT physical examinations. This person will have direct contact with our third-party medical examiner and our driver associates daily to ensure DOT physical qualifications are met. Candidate must have strong communication skills and be proficient with multiple software applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed position.
- Aid and support to the International Regulatory Compliance Specialist and Corporate Safety Management.
- Review daily safety needs of expiring or expired DOT physicals to maintain DOT compliance.
- Work with Fleet Management on scheduling DOT physicals for driver associates.
- Verify invoicing for services provided by outside clinics.
- Work with third-party administrator to ensure driver records are accurate and updated in a timely manner.
- Review all chargeable incidents and accidents and all incidents and accident of undetermined Chargeability, that are reported to the Safety Hotline or the Risk Department daily.
- Run an expired license report every Monday for the current week and send messages to driver associates that have licenses expiring within the week. Also, keep in close contact with Fleet Management to make sure drivers are not driving on an expired license.
- Maintain CDL information by updating driver records.
- Answering phone calls and assisting with driver and office associate questions and concerns regarding DOT physical qualifications and CDL status.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Experience using Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology as well as previous AS400 experience preferred.
- Good customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2-year college degree or equivalent.
- Ability to use MS Word and Excel.
- Alphanumeric data entry skills.
