What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at WES Health System?
A Nurse Practitioner working as an independent contractor is needed for 16 hours/week at the rate of $70/hr.
GENERAL OVERVIEW OF KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nurse Practitioner is subject to the medical protocols established by WES and the Physician in cooperation with other physicians assigned to the clinic. The Nurse Practitioner shall provide primary medical coordination of professional medical care.
ESSENTIAL & CORE FUNCTIONS:
1. Examines patient, compiles patient medical data and results of examination.
2. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
3. Compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
4. Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
5. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
6. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
7. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
8. Assists in the development, implementation and revision of policies affecting medical practice judgment and quality of occupational health care.
9. Assists in the development and presentation of education and instructional programs.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
1. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
2. PA state licensure required.
3. 0 to 2 years of clinical experience in a primary care clinic, urgent care clinic and/or occupational medicine clinic.
4. Flexibility with hours required.
5. Prior relationship with a collaborating physician highly preferred.
ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY & RELATIONSHIPS:1. The individual is to be supervised by the Medical Director.
COMPETENCIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
1. Ability to design, develop and modify programming.
2. Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
4. Ability to work well with others and listen objectively.
