What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Press Operator position at Wes-Tex Printing?
Purpose/ Job Summary:
The purpose of the Digital Press Operator position is to print orders, that meet the quality timely delivery standards that Wes-Tex Printing prides itself on within the customer's specifications.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand digital press software navigation
- Effectively prioritize daily work based on FIFO order receipt
- Correctly position a well balanced product to insure registration is correct height and left to right is correct and copy is straight.
- Check runs to insure ink, stock, and quantity is correct and print on correct side of stock.
- Effectively operate the digital press and software
- Check run to insure there are no dots, scratches, double print, rollermarks, smudges, broken type or print distortion.
- Check color registration from throughout the run.
- Check printed job for misregistering from left to right or top to bottom.
- Clean press, at the end of each working day and perform some preventive maintenance weekly and at each impression interval as directed by accompanying software
- Set-up and calibrate Digital Press
- Troubleshoot and diagnose press as needed
- Replace and perform maintenance on all Operator Replacement Parts (ORC)
- Provide on-site service of the press and all equipment to meet the needs of Wes-Tex performance and reliability standards
- Other duties may be required (slitting, shipping, coating, folding, and drilling)
- Assist in new product launch (testing and production)
Essential Skills:
- Good reading comprehension skills
- Good computer skills
- Basic color theory
- Basic mechanical skills
- Some knowledge of PDF and PostScript
- Safety
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk all day with frequent bending and stooping
- Lift 10 lbs all day and 35 lbs regularly
WORK DAYS:
Monday through Friday, Saturdays occasionally required
WORK HOURS:
Normal starting time is 8:00 a.m.
Thirty-minutes to 1 hour lunch break
Two 15 minute breaks
Normal ending time is 5:00 p.m.
ATTENDANCE:
Good attendance is a condition of continued employment.
Repeated absences or lateness can result in disciplinary action,
up to and including termination.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
